Our Story
Bringing Quality Care to Chesterfield & Powhatan
Since 1998, Nilsen Eye Care has been bringing quality care to the county of Chesterfield and, as of 2021, the Powhatan area. Our new second location, called Nilsen Eye Care West, is the newest chapter in the Nilsen Eye Care story! The office was acquired in March of 2021 and retains the original owner and founder, Dr. Carter, who continues seeing her patients!
OUR HISTORY
The History of Nilsen Eye Care
1998
Nilsen Eye Care (NEC) was established by Dr. Eric Nilsen in 1998 in suburban Chesterfield County.
2000
Two years later, his wife, Dr. Alexandra Nilsen, came on board.
2001-2020
The practice continued to grow with the addition of Dr. Craig Perry, Dr. Anthony Stacy and Dr. Madeline Junker Kellerman.
2021
In 2021, NEC united with Powhatan Family Vision. Dr. Tonya Carter and Dr. Kristen Jarrell (has since retired) became part of the Nilsen Eye Care team and the office was renamed Nilsen Eye Care West.
2023
Nilsen Eye Care added Dr. Jodi Vaughn, O.D. and Dr. Kyra Dorgeloh, O.D. to the practice.
Giving Back
Making A Difference In Our Community
We support local businesses and are a small business ourselves. We support many local groups like your local Lions Club, Christmas Mother, the Huguenot Baptist Church, and many many school boosters. We also have the Nilsen Eye Care Cares Program, where we are able to provide free eye, exams, and free glasses to those in need.
