Celebrating 25 Years of Care

Eye Care

Eye Conditions

The team at Nilsen Eye Care have extensive experience identifying, treating and managing a wide range of eye conditions. We frequently treat patients for glaucoma, cataracts, and complications related to diabetes. Some complications from diabetes may require further treatment from a specialist, which we can also help with! We’ve worked with numerous providers in the area for over 25 years and have established working relationships with many of them.

Diabetic Eye Care

Individuals diagnosed with diabetes are at a higher risk for developing vision disorders. With regular eye exams, eye problems associated with diabetes can be detected and treated early. For this reason, Nilsen Eye Care takes extra steps to help protect your vision and eye health. The specialized care we offer includes:

  • Conducting a dilated eye exam, with findings sent to your primary care physician and/or endocrinologist.
  • Offering specialized tests like optical coherence tomography (OCT) and fundus photography.
  • Discussing your health history with you, including how long you’ve had diabetes and your most recent blood sugar reading and Hemoglobin A1C (HgA1C).
  • Educating you about your risk for eye conditions such as glaucoma and early cataracts. In addition to how elevated blood sugars can cause a large fluctuation in your vision.
